My SKILLS:
WHat do i do?
These are some of the techniques I draw upon for what I do:
Embodiment Embodiment is about empowering individuals to understand what their body is telling them and how to listen to it. Once one goes in and listens from a space of openness an individual can hear, see and feel what is going on a deeper level. This is how we learn to tap into where the stuck energy, patterns and trauma is in our bodies. Once we gently start to access these spaces we can start the communication process. From here gentle movements, deep feeling, radical presence let us start to understand what has gotten stuck and how to stay with the process of honoring what the body and spirit needs from here. When one gains access at this level they can draw upon their own wisdom to take the next steps of healing. With my guidance we collaborate to create lasting changes in one's life. I draw from a wide background of techniques in empowering the individual to get in touch with what they need to take their lives to the next level.
Transformative Bodywork
My bodywork encompasses many different modalities these days (refer to my trainings and certifications page for more details). But what I practice is about bringing an awareness into the spaces of tension, physically and energetically, so that the person I am working with can feel and respond to it from a place of acceptance. I am not trying to fix people anymore, I am trying to guide them into the inherent wholeness that is their birthright when we accept what already is. I do this through whatever tool might work best in the moment. Sometimes it is more of a traditional massage technique or movement, sometimes it is just making contact with the body and holding the space while I gently ask the person I am working with to feel what is there. After working with thousands of people I came to really understand that everyone is different, everyone according to their background and life experiences, beliefs and desires responds differently to various inputs. One of my skills is letting myself be guided into what works best for everyone.
Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) is a movement based diagnostic system which systematically finds the cause of pain-not just the source-by logically breaking down dysfunctional movement patterns in a structured, repeatable assessment.
Myoskeletal Alignment This is a bodywork modality that uses active therapy (the client participates with directed movement) with Myofascial work to reset joints and muscles back into balance. As compared to traditional massage therapy where the client is passive, this has the client engaged, along with their neuromuscular systems to reset their own body back to its' own optimal functioning. This was developed by Erik Dalton in his years of study of Osteopathy and Rolfing.
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a light touch therapy, based on Cranial Osteopathy, that can create dramatic improvements in your life. It is a gentle , hands on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the Craniosacral system, comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch, generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the Craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system. By complementing the body's natural healing process, CST is increasingly used as a preventative health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction.
External Qi Healing (EQH) is an ancient Shamanic Taoist Healing art. It uses the Qi (bioelectric energy of the body and the universe) to free up energetic and physical blocks in the body. This often creates a felling of wellbeing, ease, clarity and focus while energizing the whole system. It is an ancient art that utilizes the abundant energy of the natural world to help ourselves heal. It draws upon the wisdom of Classical Chinese Medicine and Taoist practices. It also is great for people who are very sensitive to touch and who find more traditional bodywork overwhelming or aggressive. This system has been passed down from Master Yun Xiang Tseng (Chen), 14th generation Zhang San Feng lineage, 25th generation Dragon Gate branch (Longmen sect) lineage, authorized to practice and teach the authentic Wu Dang Taoist teachings that have passed on in an unbroken living tradition for 700 years.
EQH can be beneficial for people who are feeling stuck in any areas of their lives, for those who suffer lingering pain or health issues that don't seem to go away with little to no help from Western Medicine or pharmaceutical treatments. I have found it in my practice (in conjunction with psychotherapy or somatic therapy) to be very useful for people who have been through traumatic events such as a sudden loss of a loved one or depression. It resets the nervous system allowing the body to relax, and strengthens the immune system.
Chi Nei Tsang is an Asian form of bodywork that uses Taoist concepts of looking at the internal organs, their associated meridians and emotions. It addresses the internal organs of the body with a gentle form of manipulation that frees up the fascia, lymph and nerves around the internal organs. Key in the training of Chi New Tsang is the use of Qi Gong (Qi: the Chinese concept of bioelectric energy, Gong: the continued, diligent practice of something in order to attain a high level of skill) to energetically affect the balance of the organs. In Taoist Medicine (from Ancient Chinese culture) the organs can be affected by emotions, the surrounding environment and by diet among other things. Of course it is also very beneficial for those that have digestion issues, Crohn's Disease, IBS, those who have had abdominal surgeries, or women who have had children, whether Cesearean or Natural. It is very useful for breaking up adhesions in the abdominal fascia and for making space around the organs, which is especially beneficial after pregnancy. It can be very helpful for anyone who is seeking balance and awareness in their body, mind and spirit
Tai Ji and Qi Gong teaches you how to build and harness your energy while re-establishing healthy movement patterns. It is an ancient system that develops coordination, balance, freedom of movement and focus. I teach the Wudang style of Tai Ji and Qi Gong as taught by Master Yun Xiang Tseng (Chen). It is excellent for people who are looking for balance and ease in their life, no matter what age or level of health. It is a great compliment to athletes to train with more ease and flow. It greatly improves any other physical activity while giving your mind space to enjoy the experience. It is a practice that knows no boundaries and limit of depth.
Yoga Asana and Pranayama can help free up the physical body to make space in the joints and build your strength, balance and equilibrium. It is an ancient tool that helps cultivate the coordination of breath and movement, and for finding the balance between strength and flexibility. It opens and builds the prana (energy) in the body by creating tapas (or heat) to allow for ease of movement, access and greater control of your body and life.
Pranayama is the science of using breath and focus to help us open up our energy centers (cakras), gain mastery over our nervous system, strengthen our immune system and improve overall health.
Yi Jing (or I Ching) is known as The Book Of Changes. It is one of the oldest known written manuscripts in the world. It is based on an ancient system of divination that gives you insight and direction into the many choices we have to make on a daily basis. It also gives you self knowledge into the strength and weaknesses of your personality, your unique gifts and a path to find balance. It gives you insight into the timing and patterns of the universe and how they relate to you and your life. I'm a 26th Generation Long Men Yi Jing consultant trained under Master Yun Xian Tseng.
Ritual is a form of prayer to spirit. It is a way to access the different realms of life on this planet. It is a humble way of inviting beings and life forms that are not human into help with our human existence. This might include teachers that are no longer in the physical, ancestors, spirit guides, plant guides, the elements of nature or celestial energies to name just a few. It is a spontaneous event that takes it's own course the more we allow ourselves to let go of control of what we want to happen and surrender to what is happening.
Meditation I draw upon my practice and. studies of Taoist Nei Gong, Yoga Nidra, Plant Medicine and Shamanic Journeying as well as a host of other practices I have come across on my journey. Like bodies, we are all alike yet, very unique in what works for each of us.
